Situation
- Valeo Foods, a UK and Ireland-based international food group, engaged Food Strategy Associates to conduct Buy-side Commercial and Operational Due Diligence, alongside a quantified value creation and synergy assessment, on Prestige 96, a Bulgarian biscuit and wafer manufacturer under consideration for acquisition
What We Did
To support our client, we:
- Assessed the attractiveness and outlook of the Bulgarian coated and uncoated biscuit and wafer categories, benchmarking pricing dynamics against international and local players
- Evaluated Prestige 96’s competitive position and brand portfolio across core KPIs, brand fundamentals, visibility, availability and range efficiency
- Tested the sustainability of recent financial performance, analysing pricing, margins and demand elasticity
- Conducted Operational Due Diligence covering manufacturing capabilities, capacity, utilisation, cost structure and operational maturity
- Quantified commercial synergies, including cross-selling opportunities such as introducing Prestige 96’s products into Valeo’s international markets
- Quantified operational synergies, assessing capacity headroom across production lines and the feasibility of capturing upside through SKU reallocation and further capacity optimisation
- Consolidated findings into a value creation plan setting out strategic priorities and quantified synergy opportunities between Prestige 96 and Valeo
Results Delivered
- Food Strategy Associates successfully completed the assignment, supporting Valeo Foods in a competitive process that culminated in the successful acquisition of Prestige 96
Andreas Kutil, CCO of Valeo Foods – “FSA were very practical and professional and helped us understand what we needed to do in order to have impact on the business from Day 1, without overburdening the team. The process was well organised, speedy and led to really strong insights.“
