UK Retail Growth Strategy for a Salt Manufacturer

Situation

  • Our client, a salt manufacturer with two brands and global awareness, asked FSA to support to investigate the scale of potential UK retail growth and develop actionable plans to exploit its potential

What We Did

To support our client, we:

  • Used consumer research to understand purchase and consumption, drivers and barriers, competition, brand and innovation
  • Used Nielsen data provided by the client to conduct market and competitor analysis to better understand portfolio and range opportunities and pricing recommendations
  • Carried out customer interviews and store audits

This allowed us to answer the following questions:

  • What is your true potential in UK Retail channels?
  • What are the building blocks of growth, how big are these growth levers?
  • What tangible actions should be pursued and in what order?
  • What should your role in the category be?
  • What learnings can you take from “best in class” premium brands?

Results Delivered

  • We delivered a workshop to understand the prioritisation of identified opportunities
  • A final presentation to the management team concluded the project, which identified growth initiatives (short and long term) and key growth levers. We set action priorities for the next 6 months
  • Senior management were aligned with our suggestions
