Our client was a major player in a range of European food packaging markets and considering entry into the manufacturing and supply of specialised confectionery/biscuit trays and asked FSA to investigate a number of European markets and a potential target with a view to acquisition.
We undertook a market assessment encompassing market sizing and sub-segmentation, purchase criteria, supply chain economics, market share evaluation and competitive profiling through a series of interviews with a broad range of senior market participants. We developed a detailed understanding of the prospects for both the market – which was characterised by unusually high levels of seasonality and need for supplier flexibility/responsiveness – and the target.
